Qualitative and Mixed Methods in Public Health

This is an excellent book. I have recommended it to 3rd year occupational therapy students for a module that includes public health/health promotion, and for their dissertation. However I think it is more applicable to Masters level for our vocational degree. I will also recommend it to a colleague who runs an evidence based module for an online public health masters. The book is well laid out, easy to read/dip into, and very informative.

This is an excellent textbook. Well designed and I particularly like the creative use of case examples to support the learning objectives.

I found this book really helpful and it meets a need for a concise, usable resource for students undertaking qualitative/mixed method postgraduate research. The text is well structured, leading the student through the research process.
The language is deliberately accessible and initially I was concerned about suitability but overall, with some students facing language challenges, I think it is appropriate.
I showed it to some of my students who particularly liked the boxed examples and the exercises. The style is very student friendly - using sub-headings, supporting incremental development. A useful text.

Provides reader with an appropriate introduction to a variety of health research methods specific within the public health arena. Chapters are set out in a clear and logical format, thus providing reader with an easy to follow guide.

Simple and easy to read introductory book on qualitative research. Useful for beginners who would like to embark on qualitative and mixed methods research.

It illustrates many perspectives that support the course objectives and simplifies many concepts for students to understand.
