SAGE Business Cases launches to put core business concepts into practice

April 19, 2016

Los Angeles, CA. SAGE Publishing is pleased to announce the launch of SAGE Business Cases, the first comprehensive business case collection created specifically for the library market. The discipline-wide collection of case studies enables students and researchers to analyze real-world challenges and take on the roles of decision-makers in all types and sizes of businesses.

“Since the launch of our first management journal in the early 1970s, SAGE Publishing has built a strong portfolio of authoritative business and management content,” commented Todd Baldwin, Executive Director, Online Library & Reference Publishing, SAGE Publishing. “With the launch of SAGE Business Researcher, SAGE Business Stats, and now SAGE Business Cases, we’ve made it our mission to guide students and researchers through every step of business and management study and beyond into professional life.”

SAGE Business Cases is launching with 1,000 case studies across the business and management spectrum, including marketing, operations management, small business & entrepreneurship, international business, human resource management and many more. The cases come in a variety of formats and lengths and can be used for a range of pedagogical needs, from illustrating core business and management skills in the classroom to independent student projects. Many cases include instructor-only teaching notes to ensure effective classroom use while saving time for faculty.

To meet the needs of global business faculty and students, the collection comes from a variety of sources: proprietary SAGE cases; specially commissioned peer-reviewed cases from leading academics, and cases from key university and association partnerships, including:

  • Cambridge Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, UK
  • Graziadio School of Business and Management, Pepperdine University, USA
  • The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), India
  • Institute for the Study of Diplomacy, Georgetown University, USA
  • Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, USA
  • Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), USA
  • Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management, China
  • Wits Business School, University of Witwatersrand, South Africa
  • Yale School of Management, Yale University, USA

Baldwin continued, “Reflecting today’s business reality, SAGE Business Cases will help business students build the managerial and leadership skills that are crucial to their careers. It was designed for academic libraries, and its content was carefully curated with input from faculty and library advisory boards. We’re pleased to provide a product that both prepares the next generation of business professionals and is tailored to the unique needs of the library.”

The collection can be accessed by students and faculty campus-wide, providing a simpler alternative to complex per-case purchases and licensing agreements. Offered on SAGE’s digital library platform, SAGE Knowledge, the cases are integrated with SAGE’s journal, book, video, and reference content, enhancing discovery. SAGE Business Cases is also complementary to other SAGE Business & Management content, such as SAGE Business Stats, a statistical database that supports research and curricula, and SAGE Business Researcher, a biweekly collection of in-depth reports on the most pressing topics in business and management.

SAGE Business Cases will expand to include 2,500 cases by 2018. For more information, click here.
