SAGE Publishing and OhioLINK bring robust data resources to Ohio’s higher education community

SAGE Publishing is pleased to announce an agreement with Ohio’s statewide academic library consortium, the Ohio Library and Information Network (OhioLINK), to provide its 121 colleges, universities, and other member institutions with access to two online data resources as part of a multi-year journals renewal: SAGE Stats and imprint CQ Press’s US Political Stats. 

“Faculty, researchers, and students are hungry for many forms of easily leveraged data to support research and classroom activities,” commented Brian Gray, Incoming Cooperative Information Resources Management Committee chair, Kelvin Smith Library, Case Western Reserve University. “It’s great that we’re able to provide a stats resource to users at all OhioLINK libraries for the first time.  In addition, our analysis showed a significant cost benefit to libraries by statewide access to hundreds of new scholarly journals.”

SAGE Stats is a collection of more than 2,000 current and historical data series that enable users to compare and rank states, counties, cities, metropolitan areas, and ZIP codes on popular research topics, such as education, crime, population, and more. The data series come from more than 200,000 government and non-government datasets across 200 sources.

With access to U.S. Political Stats, users are able to locate and download data on the three branches of the U.S. Government. In addition, users can use its built-in data visualization tools to create graphs, charts, and maps for a quick analysis of data trends. U.S. Political Stats is the only site that contains CQ Roll Call, which produces a number of publications on the United States Congress, along with other CQ Press content on American government, public policy, and international affairs.

SAGE Stats and US Political Stats join OhioLINK’s expansion of the SAGE journals suite available to member institutions via OhioLINK’s Electronic Journal Center (EJC) with dual access at the publisher site.  The package gives member institutions’ students, faculty, and researchers online access to 242 more journals and their back files across various subjects including science, technology, medicine, business, and arts and humanities.
