Our Organization

1DEI is the bedrock of any progressive organization. Driven by the belief that social and behavioral science has the power to improve society, we are mindful of the role we play. We focus on publishing impactful and socially relevant research and enable robust research methodology through our print and digital offerings. What we propagate through our books and journals would remain just on paper if it were not to be put in practice within the organization allowing us to become an example of a diverse and multicultural workplace. Building a workforce that is DEI aware and compliant is a tall order and requires sensitization at all levels.  Sage India employs a heterogeneous workforce and is wholly committed to this cause.

What are we doing to achieve this?

  • Sage India is a part of the global DEI Committee, which has oversight of Sage’s DEI mission and goals across our US, UK and India offices. It assesses and enables progress and keeps local councils accountable to senior leadership.

  • Sage strictly adheres to the POSH policy. The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, commonly referred to as the ‘PoSH Act’, is an Indian law enacted with the objective of making workplaces safer for women by preventing, prohibiting and redressing acts of sexual harassment against them at the workplace. Under POSH Act, Sage India has successfully trained 500+ employees. We have a zero-tolerance approach towards any act of harassment.

  • Our Whistle Blower and Grievance Redressal Policy facilitates reporting of potential violations of company policies and applicable laws. Employees are encouraged to raise concerns about any potential violations without any fear of retaliation. Apart from this, there are many other platforms available to employees to express their concerns freely, such as Speak your Mind, Company Townhalls, and Contact CEO.

  • Sage has an open door policy and is  one of the few organizations that allow members of the same family to work together.

  • Careers at Sage are based on talent, skill and attitude, and not judged by an individual’s gender, age, marital status, sexual orientation, physical ability, region or religion. Our offices are wheelchair accessible and friendly. We respect and strictly enforce a good work-life-balance.

  • Across the organisation, Sage has an equal male to female ratio. The same is reflected in the Sage senior management group as well. (Here males and females are those that identify themselves with this gender.)

  • At Sage, we celebrate all festivals with fervour and our holiday calendar covers all major festivals celebrated across the country. We also have regional holidays for our regional staff.

Our publishing program is DEI focused:

  • We diligently pore over content we commission for our books and journals to check for any regional biases or text that is discriminatory in nature to edit it out before publication as also make efforts to sensitize authors/editors on the issue. No derogatory statements based on region/religion/or a certain community/class is acceptable in Sage India content.

  • We make sure that while considering publishing new content for our books and journals, authors/editors/contributors are not discriminated against based on caste, religion, ethnicity or gender.

  • To further our commitment to DEI principles, Sage India has published stellar works in the DEI space and continues to do so every year adding to the list of resources that will not only spread the word to the multitude of institutions and corporates that buy our books but also act as in house resources for our own employees to read and understand more about the need for a diverse, equitable and inclusive organization.

  • We publish a varied range of books on social justice, gender studies, caste and identity. Some of our offerings are as follows:
