SAGE Research Methods Datasets launched to teach research methods through practice
Los Angeles, CA - SAGE today announces the launch of SAGE Research Methods Datasets, a new resource that supports the teaching and independent learning of quantitative and qualitative analytical methods used in the social sciences. Using real-world data from around the world accompanied by step-by-step instructions, this resource teaches statistical and analytical techniques used in Business, Education, Health, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology, among other disciplines.
SAGE Research Methods Datasets was designed to save time for research methods teaching faculty looking for teaching datasets and to support graduate students learning methods on their own. Each dataset comes with an explanation of the analytical approach, an example to demonstrate the method, and a review to reinforce the material. Users are invited to practice analyses themselves by downloading step-by-step guides and data files.
Quantitative datasets included in the collection are drawn from large surveys, experiments, or government data sources and have been simplified to make them easier for pedagogical use. Qualitative datasets include interview transcripts, field study notes, and visual aids.
Users can browse datasets by:
- Method, such as ANOVA, chi-square test, or thematic analysis
- Discipline, such as education, business, or political science
- Data type, such as survey data, case notes, or interview transcripts
“SAGE has been a proud publisher of the social sciences for 50 years, and has been a leader in research methods publishing since the 1970’s,” said Todd Baldwin, Executive Director, Online Library and Reference Publishing. “Today, we remain dedicated to supporting each step of the research process. We are proud to introduce a resource that makes abstract analytical concepts clear through real-world examples and provides students and researchers with a more thorough understanding of quantitative and qualitative analysis.”
