Research4Life is a unique, cooperative public-private partnerships (PPPs) between UN agencies, STM publishers, university libraries, philanthropic foundations and technology partners. Research4Life programmes (Hinari, AGORA, OARE, and ARDI) are a key source of scientific research information in the areas of health, agriculture, environment, and applied sciences for lower income countries.

• The Hinari programme, set up by the World Health Organization (WHO) together with major publishers, enables low and middle income countries to gain access to one of the world's largest collections of biomedical and health literature providing s a strong contribution to improving world health. Up to 15000 journal titles, and up to 47000 eBooks are now available to 5,700 health institutions in 107 countries.
• The AGORA programme, set up by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) together with major publishers, enables developing countries to gain access to an outstanding digital library collection in the fields of food, agriculture, environmental science and related social sciences. AGORA provides a collection of 5900 journal titles and up to 21,000 eBooks to over 3000 institutions in 108 countries.
• Online Access to Research in the Environment (OARE), an international public-private consortium coordinated by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Yale University, and leading science and technology publishers, enables developing countries to gain access to one of the world's largest collections of environmental science research.
• The Access to Research for Development and Innovation (ARDI) programme is coordinated by the World Intellectual Property Organization together with its partners in the publishing industry with the aim to increase the availability of scientific and technical information in developing countries. Currently, 12 publishers provide access to over 200 journals for 107 developing countries through the ARDI program.
• GOALI (Global Online Access to Legal Information) give users in more than 115 developing countries access to a wide range of essential legal information for their work and studies. GOALI users will have access to the same SAGE content as all other programmes.

INASP works to strengthen research systems in developing and emerging countries to enable global communication, knowledge, and networks. INASP’s goal is to put research and knowledge at the heart of development by supporting individuals and institutions to produce, share and use research and knowledge which can transform lives. Their programmes focus on creating strong partnerships, building local capacity and bringing together different partners involved in the production and use of knowledge

The eIFL Foundation supports the wide availability of electronic resources for library users in developing countries by helping to negotiate the creation of library consortia across multiple countries. SAGE currently has deals with Palestinian Territories, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Serbia, Slovenia, Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Senegal, Sudan, and Uzbekistan through this programme.
